This user-centred design project is aiming to advertise Scotland to tourists who would be coming to Glasgow for the 2014 Commonwealth Games. One thing i love about Scotland is the highlands and the amazing scenery and wildlife it has to offer. I realized that the toursists wouldn't be able to experience this side of Scotland if they were only in Glasgow My solution for this was to bring the highlands to the city centre.

 

I wanted my design to stand out and create a shock/buzz factor for people walking past it so that they want to interact with it. I chose for the design to be placed at Buchanan Galleries because the street is always so busy with people always rushing, and also that there is so much concrete and tall buildings surrounding the area. The design will be a great contrast to this as it brings marshes, rivers, mountains to the area. I also hope that the design makes the user appreciate what Scotland has to offer and take some time out of their day to stop rushing around and sit down on the steps and relax with nature. 

 

The stairs is just printed images on a sheet that would be covered by a protective layer of plastic that would allow people to walk and sit on it without destroying it. The walls on either side of the stairs has a lenticular image of a mountain on them which will change from a summer and winter image to highlight the fact that Scotland's weather is commonly known for its diversity and fast changing nature. These lenticular images will also act as a tactic to get passers by to look at the design as people who are rushing past will see the change of image as their angle changes and this will force them to look back to see what has happened.
